LIVING IN MOROCCO

Morocco was known to the ancient Arabs as the “Farthest Land of the Setting Sun,” due to its position as the westernmost enclave of Islam. The culture, traditions, and architecture of Morocco have been profoundly influenced by the religion. Later, the influence of the Spanish and French would make Morocco the preferred location for travelers looking for the exotic.

Morocco has nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as desert, mountains, one ocean, and one sea. Only its intricate architecture can match its spectacular scenery. Beautiful treasures line the streets. Mosaic tiles, ornamental Islamic calligraphy, and geometric motifs abound on buildings.

Fez, Meknes, Marrakech, and the present-day capital of Rabat are the four imperial cities that make up the kingdom of Morocco. At the base of the Atlas Mountains, there is a city called Marrakesh that is almost a thousand years old. The old town is surrounded by strong red walls, thus the name “Red City.” It is also well renowned for golf. There are about ten reputable golf courses in the area. Similar to other significant Moroccan cities, the cost of living is low when compared to comparable cities in Europe.

Along the Atlantic coast, the country’s ex-pat communities are typically concentrated. The main city, Casablanca, is recognized as the financial and intellectual center of the country. Casablanca is one of the top 10 richest cities on the continent, according to a recent analysis on Africa’s wealth. Located on the Strait of Gibraltar and only a ferry trip from Spain, Tangier is the nation’s entry point. It is a well-liked seaside town and the most significant port in Morocco. High end buyers are drawn to the communities of Marshan and Vieille Montagne (Old Mountain).

The classic multistory residences known as riads, which were initially constructed for the affluent and built around a private inner courtyard or garden, are in high demand from foreign purchasers. Property purchases undertaken by foreign investors are not subject to any limitations.
